Arcanum V of XXII
The Hierophant
The Hierophant looks for meaning that outlasts the moment. Teacher and student at once, this energy seeks a tradition worth belonging to and hands it on with care; rigid, it mistakes the rulebook for the truth it was written to protect.

Essence
The Hierophant looks for what will still be true later. Saturn governs him, and his elements are both air and earth: an idea is not finished until it has been given a practical form and a place to be handed on. He is teacher and student in the same movement.
The energy is active, electric and spiritual, ordered by logic rather than by feeling — belief that has been reasoned about and tested. Its interval is the longest in this group but one, some fifteen years, which is the honest span of a formation. A tradition, a discipline or a body of work is not learned in a season, and this energy is content to give it decades.
In the portrait
As the outward self, the Hierophant reads as someone worth consulting; people ask you what is right, not merely what is convenient. On the inherited life lesson he sets a longer task: to separate a tradition received whole from the part of it that is genuinely yours. Along the tension line he marks where conviction stiffens.
See where it lands in your portrait
An arcanum on its own is vocabulary. Draw your portrait to see where this energy sits in yours — then let Nataliia read the sentence it forms with the rest.
